When the supply chain crisis remained at the forefront of public concern, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg commented on Twitter that the data sharing bedrock within the White House' Freight Logistics Optimization Works (FLOW) initiative would help streamline a clogged supply chain. "Sharing data is key to making the most of the physical infrastructure we have," he said. By harmonizing processes, applications, and data being shared across our country's complex supply chain ecosystem, there was definite promise in addressing supply chain vulnerabilities and congestion. But, what were the challenges that lied ahead and was expert data management really the key to helping our government make progress on speeding up the movement of goods?
Attendees joined a panel of technical experts in data integration and management to
learn how:
- An information-sharing initiative across a complex IT ecosystem can improve accuracy of information from end-to-end for a more resilient supply chain
- Information-sharing is only the beginning. Advanced analytics, like artificial intelligence and machine learning, can enable hyper-efficient decision support and automation tuning the resilient supply chain into a powerful, competitive weapon
- The government can adopt commercial supply chain data sharing best practices, especially within SAP ERP modernization initiatives
- Speed and scale in data sharing can still deliver the necessary secure flow of information
