OMB M-21-31: Essential Insights for Financial Agencies

Event Date: June 29, 2022
Hosted By: Splunk & Carahsoft

In August 2021, the Office of Management and Budget released a memo that outlined the requirements for section 8 of Executive Order 14028, Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity. The memo outlines the requirements for each federal agency to collect, retain, and manage logs with a focus on centralized access and visibility for the Security Operations Center (SOC) of each agency.

With the upcoming EL1 deadline, participants learned how to help thier agency meet the mandate, as well as a look ahead to meeting requirements in EL2 and EL3. Equip your agency staff and industry partners with the means to see everything happening in your environment, make decisive actions in real time, and provide your SOC with solutions to accelerate agency cloud adoption and IT modernization initiatives. We also discussed maximizing the value from the data, challenges we heared across the federal financial space, and how federal financial agencies are uniquely equipped to respond to these mandates.

Attendees joined us for this session to learn how Splunk can:

  • Help your organization practically meet EL1 (Basic), EL2 (Intermediate), and EL3 (Advanced) Tier capabilities required within the next 6, 12, and 18 months (respectively)
  • Equip your agency staff and industry partners with the means to see everything happening in your environments and take decisive actions in real time
  • Provide your SOC with FedRAMP-authorized services (at the Moderate Impact Level) to accelerate agency cloud adoption and IT modernization initiatives
  • Help assist agencies implementing these requirements and how it differentiates itself from other tools on the market
  • Measure and curate your logging needs with available toolkits
  • Provide a guide to data collection and usage to meet OMB mandates
