Common Sense AI builds AI-native software for local government. We work directly with agencies to reduce administrative burden, connect fragmented systems, and give staff more time for the judgment and public service that require people.
Staff remain in control. AI prepares, suggests, organizes, and assembles. Government employees review, correct, and approve. Final decisions about responsiveness, exemptions, redactions, approvals, and publication always remain with the agency.
Every agency has its own departments, policies, systems, and ways of working. Common Sense builds alongside government staff using real records, real processes, and real operational constraints. Our engineers work directly with the people doing the work, solve difficult problems with them, and improve the software through use.
Ready-made solutions support common workloads, but they are starting points, not boundaries. The same platform can be configured around the processes an agency needs while preserving its existing systems, policies, permissions, and approval authority. This approach gives departments software that fits how they actually operate without requiring a lengthy development project or wholesale technology replacement.
Common Sense connects with document management, email, permitting, GIS, finance, and other legacy systems, including systems that were never designed to integrate. Agencies do not need to replace everything before they can improve anything.
Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Los Angeles, Common Sense is a venture-backed software company with a team based primarily in California.
We are majority engineers. Our team combines experience at Palantir, SpaceX, Apple, Amazon, and Square with experience at organizations serving government and other complex operational environments, including PayIt, Tanium, and HopSkipDrive.
Members of the team previously delivered technology for high-stakes federal, state, and local operations across intelligence, defense, justice, and public safety. Team members also helped architect secure cloud infrastructure supporting Tanium’s FedRAMP and Protected B authorizations. Security, reliability, and defensibility inform everything Common Sense builds.
Agencies work directly with the people who build the product. Senior product and engineering staff participate in discovery, work with agency teams on real records and workflows, and remain accessible as each solution evolves.
The result is less administrative work, faster service for residents, and more time for staff to focus on the decisions and relationships that matter.
Common Sense partners with Carahsoft to make these capabilities available to government customers nationwide.
