Boyds, Md., — August 31, 2020 — The Washington Spirit and Carahsoft Technology Corp. have agreed to a sponsorship deal through the 2020 calendar year. Carahsoft joins a growing group of corporate partners supporting the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) as the league achieves national exposure via matches televised on CBS and the CBS family of networks.

Carahsoft will be the presenting sponsor of the Spirit’s upcoming series of Zoom training clinics in which first-team players will connect with local youth teams to provide insights into what it takes to train like a pro. Additionally, Carahsoft will be promoted through on-location signage during the Spirit’s Fall Series matches and on the Spirit’s social media channels.

“We are proud to partner with the Washington Spirit to sponsor its Fall Series and support athletes in the greater D.C. Metro Area,” said Carahsoft President Craig P. Abod. “We are also delighted to help support the Spirit’s community outreach program to connect youth clubs around the region with professional players from the team for free virtual clinics to inspire these young athletes to pursue their fitness goals and encourage wellness.”

Carahsoft has been a long-time supporter of the Washington Spirit team and their commitment to community outreach initiatives. Last year, Carahsoft, Washington Spirit and the Shore Soccer youth league teamed up to send more than 50 female students and their coaches from Northampton, Virginia to the Washington Spirit’s August home game at Audi Field. The students had the opportunity to attend the game and a meet-and-greet with the players afterward. For many, it was their first time visiting the nation’s capital, and the students were able to meet some of their favorite players and ask them about their experiences in the professional world of soccer.

“I've had the privilege of knowing Carahsoft founder and President Craig Abod for more than 10 years,” said Spirit Majority Owner Steve Baldwin. “He has built a remarkable company, and he is incredibly dedicated to supporting our community, especially kids. I'm grateful for his friendship and continued support of our club.”
