Five-Year Enterprise Software Initiative Contract Streamlines DoD’s Procurement of CollabNet Products

RESTON, Va. and BRISBANE, Calif., May 5, 2011 -- Carahsoft Technology Corp., the trusted government IT solutions provider, and CollabNet®, the leader in Agile Development in the Cloud, today announced the receipt of a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for CollabNet software and consulting services, including the CollabNet TeamForge® application lifecycle management platform, CollabNet Lab Management™, training, and consulting services. The five-year BPA is effective through March 30, 2016 and carries a ceiling amount of $29 million. It is open for ordering by all DoD components including: the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Unified Combatant Commands, the Inspector General of the Department of Defense (DoD IG), the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, the U. S. Coast Guard, NATO, and the Intelligence Community, among others.

CollabNet TeamForge powers the DoD’s award-winning Forge.mil initiative. The Forge.mil mission is to improve the ability of the DoD to rapidly deliver dependable software, services and systems in support of net-centric operations and warfare. Forge.mil consists of two offerings – SoftwareForge and ProjectForge. SoftwareForge provides a free collaborative environment for shared development of DoD community source and internal open source software. ProjectForge provides teams that require greater access control with their own secure, private, web-based collaborative software development environment. ProjectForge is a fee-for-service capability delivered on-demand by DISA Computing Services and hosted in a Defense Enterprise Computing Center.

With more than 8,000 registered users working on close to 500 projects and with more than 2,700 software releases available for download, Forge.mil is available to the U.S. military, DoD government civilians, and DoD contractors, enabling organizations to save money, improve software development efficiency, and drive collaboration that helps deliver better software faster to the warfighter. To register to join the community, host a project or start a group, visit www.disa.mil/forge.

“As a foundational element of Forge.mil, CollabNet’s solution is a proven technology for enabling collaborative development of classified software applications while reducing time and infrastructure costs,” said Craig P. Abod, president, Carahsoft. “This ESI BPA will simplify procurement to make it even easier for all defense-related agencies and their subcontractors to realize the benefits of CollabNet’s products.” “CollabNet is transforming software development at the Department of Defense, in enterprises around the globe, and in the world’s largest and most successful software development communities,” said Bill Portelli, chief executive officer, CollabNet. “The new ESI Blanket Purchase Agreement will help the DoD to harness the power of Cloud computing and Agile methods to support its critically important software development effort.”
