10gen and Carahsoft Partner to Bring Leading NoSQL Solution to Government Sector

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. and RESTON, Virginia—February 6, 2012— 10gen, the company behind MongoDB, today announced it has entered into a partnership with Carahsoft Technology Corp., the trusted Government IT solutions provider and top-ranked General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule Contract holder, to meet demand for 10gen’s leading non-relational database, MongoDB, in the U.S. public sector marketplace. 10gen is the only open source NoSQL database vendor working with Carahsoft to provide government customers with IT solutions that enable them to gather, share and respond to vital information with increased agility and security.

“We’re very excited about this partnership and the value it brings to both of our companies,” said Natalie Gregory, open source sales director at Carahsoft. “MongoDB will be the dominant offering in the NoSQL space for our government customers and reseller partners and Carahsoft is keen to help drive their success in the public sector.”

Under the partnership agreement, Carahsoft will provide proactive sales and marketing activities to educate the market about 10gen’s service offerings and generate demand for MongoDB. Federal agencies are still in the nascent stages of establishing Big Data initiatives and will benefit from 10gen’s breadth of experience in the market.

“Carahsoft is a highly respected, industry leader in the federal space and we value the strong relationship we have built with them,” said Max Schireson, president at 10gen. “This partnership helps cement our position as the clear leader on the NoSQL market and we look forward to the joint activity we have planned as our relationship continues to grow.”

MongoDB is an open source, document-oriented database, combining scalability, performance and ease of use with traditional relational database features such as dynamic queries and indexes. It has become the leading NoSQL database choice for Fortune 500 enterprises and Web 2.0 companies that are developing innovative large-scale applications and performing real-time "big data" analytics.
