Attendees joined BeyondTrust for the FCW Cybersecurity Summit on March 16th, 2022. Most people in government would confirm that cybersecurity is their #1 priority right now. A hybrid work environment with its enlarged attack surface and a continuing escalation in the number and sophistication of attacks put the systems and the data that resides on them at an uncomfortable level of risk.

The administration is providing new policy guidance with an executive order on cybersecurity that emphasizes Zero Trust architecture, new guidance on supply chain risks, new sources of funding for the systems that need to be upgraded and a new set of playbooks from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security agency at DHS that offer operational maps for how to protect an agency’s systems.

Not surprisingly, the threats are not static, but are continually changing from stealing data to encrypting data for a ransom to seizing control of a whole network.

During this virtual event, attendees learned how current programs such as CDM, Einstein and Fed RAMP are performing and what changes may be in store. What new resources are available to help agencies make the upgrades they know they need, and what has been working for other agencies.

Government and industry experts shared the lessons they have learned and the results they have been able to achieve.

Attendees came away from the event with a better understanding of:

• New deadlines for reporting cyber incidents
• How the new National Cyber Director will coordinate and identify agency roles
• Which agencies are using Working Capital Funds and how they are getting access
• How the “as-a-service” approach is being used on both attack and defend sides of the fight
• Changes to FedRAMP and CMMC that are being considered
