Mission-critical skills gaps have been identified across the Federal government in areas such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, cybersecurity, and acquisitions. These gaps result from a variety of reasons including shortfalls in workforce planning and training, a high percentage of employees eligible to retire, loss of insitutional knowledge, and the changing nature of federal work.
