From lead service lines removal to wastewater collection systems improvements to stormwater management, one thing that everyone can agree on is that we need to invest more in our water infrastructure. The recent passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) marks the largest investment in drinking water, clean water, and wastewater infrastructure in American history—$55 billion over the course of five years. The IIJA will bring communities across the U.S. much needed support to tackle key drinking and clean water issues. Over the next year, EPA and the State Revolving Funds are tasked with implementing the IIJA and its dozens of new formula and competitive grant programs.
As states and communities prepare to take advantage of these programs and make key investments, they need to leverage digital technologies to develop long-term capital investment strategies that allow them to build better, smarter and climate resilient water systems.
