The first rule of designing a secure system is to take a Zero Trust approach and assume a breach will happen. Often, after a breach, we focus on how the breach occurred, delaying remediation. Instead, the focus should be on what every attacker’s first target is, the identity of the attacker, and both the access management systems and the privileged credentials within those systems. Recent news surrounding cyber breaches is a reminder that privileged credentials are highly targeted by threat actors and need to be protected at all times.
