Driven by enterprise-wide adoption of Office 365, IT departments are rolling out Office 365 and providing a single-tenant across entire state entities, leading Federal agencies to embrace a single tenant for all subdivisions. Therefore, the challenge for these scenarios is that previously independent solutions now sit under the same Office 365 tenant: one set of tenant-wide settings.

With native Office 365 functionality, when you disable external sharing for the State of California, you also disable it for both the Departments of Education and Commerce. If you set the Teams expiration schedule for one year for the State of New Jersey, this applies to all Teams created by the New Jersey Circuit Courts. Since agencies have different numbers of users, each dealing with different levels of sensitive information, and are overseen by different federal and state regulations —shouldn’t they have the ability to be enabled with different policies for their digital workspaces?
