Best Security Practices for milCloud Data Migration

Event Date: February 24, 2022
Hosted By: Thales TCT & Carahsoft

In December, DISA announced that it planned to cease the use of milCloud 2.0 cloud services on May 20, 2022. This means that all milCloud 2.0 users will have to migrate their data to either a commercial cloud or another environment before the deadline. The impending deadline brings attention to the security implications associated with the use of commercial clouds by federal agencies.

Attendees learned how federal agencies can ensure that their data is properly protected through cloud-independent encryption and key management deployed in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and IBM Cloud environments as well as in private or hybrid cloud infrastructures.

Thales TCT’s cloud security experts discussed cloud security best practices including:

  • Bring Your Own Encryption (BYOE) which enables the highest level of data security in the cloud
  • Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) which adds an additional layer of security to native cloud encryption
  • Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) live demo
