Improving Government Service Delivery: Digitalization and Automation of Licensing and Permitting

Event Date: February 22, 2024
Hosted By: ServiceNow & Carahsoft

Across government, permitting is run with a number of homegrown systems that are still primarily manual and paper-based. This means there is no little to no visibility for both the citizens submitting permit requests and the stakeholders involved in the process. This also brings challenges to the government workforce forcing them to swivel chair between systems resulting in lower productivity.

ServiceNow’s Public Sector Digital Services (PSDS) provides a platform to modernize permitting for any type of organization or situation. With the new License and Permit Playbook Application for PSDS, government agencies can utilize this packaged playbook built to simplify and modernize the delivery of licenses and permits – enabling governments to focus on providing innovative experiences for individuals and businesses, rather than developing and maintaining expensive bespoke or custom solutions.

Participants in this session learned more on improving government licensing and permits; key capabilities included:

  • Guided processes for government workers - manage applications quickly and consistently, and monitor the progress of middle office teams.
  • Improved Customer experience - making it easier for constituents and businesses to submit applications, track status, and receive licenses and permits quickly.
  • Visibility for stakeholders – report on current state of cases, track performance, key metrics, and user satisfaction.
  • Integration of new and legacy, siloed systems across departments – allowing for increased efficiencies and data driven decision making
