Traditional training is based on higher education principles that provide a crash course in awareness and memorization, facilitated by passive learning–listening or watching. The end goal is to pass an exam which doesn't translate to the confidence level or ability to implement a skill set on a mission critical program. Thus, the "on the job training" occurs too frequently. Developing skills that allow you to be a practitioner, ready and able to complete projects, requires a different approach.
