Blockchain & Distributed Ledger: Not Just for Cryptocurrency Anymore

Event Date: August 06, 2020
Hosted By: SpiderOak & Carahsoft

When you think of blockchain, the first things that come to mind are Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. In the federal government, blockchain technology is leveraged for missions that rely on the free flow of accurate, “need-to-know” information and communications that are less than secure.

The native security capabilities of blockchain dramatically improve the abilities of products in this space to securely manage even the most sensitive information assets. The use of decentralized information storage capabilities removes hackable, single points of failure that are common in centralized databases.

SpiderOak and Carahsoft discussed the security requirements of remote communication and collaboration in these hostile environments.

Participants learned:

  • Not all products in secure communication and collaboration space are the same
  • How blockchain and distributed ledger are game-changers for data integrity and non-repudiation
  • The danger of using business first technology in security-first environments
  • The importance of cryptographically secure distributed data enclaves in securing sensitive information

Participants leared how their organization can protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of their most sensitive information with blockchain and disturbed ledger.
