F5 NGINX App Protect

Event Date: November 12, 2021
Hosted By: F5 & Carahsoft
As the Federal government and state and local agencies continue to embrace modern application development processes, we are seeing an increased demand for NGINX expertise across the government, with open positions demanding experience.

F5 & NGINX held a training focused on helping organizations meet requirements around protecting applications with a Web Application Firewall (WAF). Specifically leveraging NGINX App Protect (NAP) to protect applications while supporting the industry shift towards modern application development processes (containers, Kubernetes, micro-services, DevOps, and DevSecOps). NGINX App Protect delivers the best-in-class WAF capabilities you have come to expect from BIG-IP products while being agile enough to be leveraged in modern application architectures. Learn how to deploy NAP as a standalone ADC, a container as an Ingress Controller, or even as part of your API Gateway capabilities.

During the hands-on lab, we covered various NGINX Plus concepts with a focus on NGINX App Protect functionality. The following how-tos were covered:
  • Deploy modern applications with modern tools
  • Install NGINX Plus
  • Run NGINX as a container
  • Install and configure NGINX App Protect (NAP)
  • Protect an application with NAP and in a Docker container
  • Protect an application with NAP and in a Kubernetes Ingress Controller
  • Send sample malicious traffic to simulate web attacks
