The Federal government has been working to update its policies, architectures and frameworks around digital identity. OMB revised its Identity Credential and Access Management guide in May of 2019, and NIST has been working on a updated version of its guidance on security and privacy controls for information systems. Then, the pandemic hit, and all programs went into overdrive as agencies needed to find a way to verify identity of their employees and contractors who were now working remotely, coordinate access to appropriate data from many new endpoints, and make sure that privacy was maintained.
In this workshop, industry leaders discussed what has been accomplished to date and what is being planned for this effort to build a system for cross-government identity verification management and exchange.
