TIAG's mResilience First Responder Wellness Platform
mRes draws on 10+ years of behavioral health technology experience with the US military and focuses on building the protective factors to build and maintain personal resilience. The mRes SaaS platform combines a native mobile app available on iOS and Android with an AWS GovCloud hosted content management portal. It is offered in both law enforcement and firefighter versions. mRes contains a wide range of curated wellness and resilience content, resources, and a suite of evidence-based self-regulation tools. Agency-specific content such as Peer Support and department-specific / local resources are added during initial configuration.
Benefits:
- "Native" mobile app allows for offline access to tools and resources in remote areas
- Highly customizable and easy to update as department-specific information changes. New content is automatically pushed to the app.
- Built to federal IT and cybersecurity standards and available for use on government devices.
- Law enforcement version is a National FOP vetted and approved Wellness Product
Easy Activation & Access without "Big Brother" watching
Unlike some apps that achieve "anonymity" for users by sharing a single username and password across an organization, mRes controls access using either an email-based white-list or a domain white-list. No user account is created and the email is replaced on the device with a random 32 bit digit. Users must know that they can use mRes without being monitored.
Benefits:
- Access to organizational content is limited, ensuring sensitive content such as Peer Support phone numbers is protected
- Large organizations are able to easily add and delete authorized users using CSV files. Deleted emails lose access to mRes the next time they open it.
- We protect Personal Health Information and Personally Identifiable Information by NOT collecting it. It's that simple.
- Organizations receive deidentified aggregate metrics on user usage and behavior.
mRes Peer Support Module
Res includes a Peer Support module, which is configured during the onboarding process with peer-support team members, to include their contact information. We can include a short bio about the peer-support member and highlight areas of personal interest that allow an individual to identify a person on the Peer-Support team they would like to engage with. mRes makes use of the inherent capabilities of the mobile device to call, text, or email a Peer- Support member, and use the phone’s mapping function for directions to an address.
Benefits:
- Provide your First Responders with 24/7 access to their Peer Support team.
- The native app uses the call-email-text tool on the user's device. The communication occurs outside the app so that no information is captured by mRes, helping preserve anonymity.
- Peer Support member bios are gathered and configured during onboarding.
- A search function allows large users in a large organization to search by name, region, or keyword.
mRes Resources
mRes comes preconfigured with a wide array of culturally relevant resources across a range of resilience and wellness topics. Content is carefully curated by our team of experts and is regularly updated. During the customer configuration process resources specific to the department or location are added. These might include contract support therapists, Employee Assistance Pro

- National level hotlines and warmlines are preloaded. Agency or state-specific hotlines are easily added during configuration.
- Resources include clinically validated web self-assessments from authoritative sources such as the VA National Center for PTSD. Links to these assessments take the user out of mRes so that no activity is captured by the app.
- External resources are carefully vetted and no advertisements or "pay walls" are allowed.
mRes Tips Module
Tips provide quick, actionable strategies that users can use to build resilience. Categories include: improving sleep, addressing work-life balance, or talking about that call. Many of the tips include the research basis and links to supporting articles. Some link the user to a relevant tool within mRes that allows them to practice a technique to help keep themselves grounded. The Goals Module allows users to take a strategy from Tips and incorporate it into their daily routine.
Benefits:
- "Micro-learning" format allows busy professionals to find relevant content and put it into practice.
- The companion "Goals Module" helps a user create a healthy habit.
- The mRes team continues to update and refresh content. mRes customers regularly flag new resources that can be shared with the entire mRes community.
Guided Meditations / Mindfulness Tool
Meditation, specifically mindfulness training, is growing in use with First Responders. Meditation has been shown to improve both physical and mental conditions - reducing cortisol levels and blood pressure, as well as improving decision-making, performance, and PTSD-related symptoms. mRes includes a variety of preload guided meditations in male and female voices. Users can also select no-voice and make use of the haptic-feedback capability of the metronome.
Benefits:
- mRes offers a "buffet table" of evidence-based tools. The basic meditations introduce users to the practice and allow them to discover for themselves if this is for them.
- The integrated heart-rate monitor uses the camera's flash to capture a before and after heart rate to provide tangible evidence of efficacy.
- User session statistics do not leave the phone. All data is stored locally.
Tactical Breathing Tool
Deep breathing, or diaphragmatic breathing, has been studied extensively with First Responders, often with the additional benefit of biofeedback. mRes has an in-app heartrate-capture capability to allow for such immediate feedback using many phone models. While users do not need an application to train on breath control, having a tool that walks them through the process, shows a visual log of their efforts, and reminds them to practice, can provide structure and reinforcement.
Benefits:
- Find the right interval for you. The tool includes preconfigured common approaches such as "box breathing", but users can customize the intervals to find what works for them.
- Imagery and audio can be tailored to suit the individual user.
- Form a good habit so that under stress you maintain good breathing discipline leading to better situational awareness and decision-making under stress.
Soothing Sounds
Listening to music and nature sounds has been documented to improve sleep quality, improve moods after an upsetting event, and help the body’s physiological response to stress – all issues of clear value to first responders. The tool can be used for a brief "time out", as relaxing background noise, or as a sleep aid
Benefits:
- Proven to help the body relax.
- Integrated time allows the module to be used as a night-time white noise generator without draining your phone.
- Find the nature sound that works for you!
