ICYMI: DoDIIS Wrap-up with Jeff Singer

The Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems (DoDIIS) Worldwide Conference made a return to the calendars of the Intelligence Community after taking a 2 year hiatus. Carahsoft was at the show hosting a pavilion with 40+ partners. We also attended a number of the great sessions that featured directors and high-ranking officials across all branches of the DoD. We spoke with Jeff Singer, Jeff Singer, President, JA Singer & Associates, LLC, who offered some insights into the show.

Jeff was excited to see the DoD bring this show back as it, and other shows like it including GEOINT, provide a great platform for government and industry to come together and discuss challenges and lay the groundwork for future innovation. At this year’s show, Singer noted that Cyber and Cloud emerged as the hot topics in the Intelligence Community and many questions were answered by the vendors in attendance. Big Data, particularly the ingestion of data, also came up frequently across the conference.

Of special importance was the Intelligence Community Information Technology Enterprise (ICITE), part of the office of the Director of National Intelligence, who had a booth at the show. Singer was pleased that the group took the time to confirm that the vendor community understood what they did for the DoD and how best to work with them. ICITE was also focused on educating their DoD customers as to how best to work with their organization to meet interoperability, collaboration, and efficiency goals.

We’d love to hear your takeaways from the show. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
