VMware’s CTO of the Americas, Chris Wolf, recently chatted with FedScoop about the state of the federal data center. The drive to consolidate and modernize data centers to deploy applications faster has led more agencies to look at the cloud. It is evident, however, that there are security concerns about cloud deployment and use. As Chris pointed out, traditional firewall security made systems are like an egg; once the outer shell is cracked, everything inside is easily infiltrated. Today in cloud, each piece inside the egg is being wrapped in its own security to mitigate the ease at which the first layer of protection can be broken.
