Google Workspace has received Provisional Authorization (PA) from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for the U.S Department of Defense’s (DoD) at Impact Level 4 (IL4), allowing government agencies to fully utilize the capabilities of Google Workspace to meet mission needs.
Google Workspace, which is available through Google Public Sector and its ecosystem of partners, including Carahsoft and its reseller partners, achieved the DoD’s IL4 authorization, a security requirement defined by the DISA that determines security measures and controls related to the use of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). This authorization, along with the launch of Google Cloud’s new division, Google Public Sector, demonstrates Google’s continued commitment to helping public sector agencies accelerate their digital transformation initiatives.
“Public sector customers now have more choice to pick a secure communications and collaboration platform–Google Workspace–to advance their missions securely, retain their workforce, and save on costs,” said Troy Bertram, managing director, Partnerships, Google Public Sector. “The U.S. federal government has had a long-standing goal of deploying multicloud solutions to help with redundancy and innovation. Now, with Google Workspace achieving IL4 authorization, agencies can empower their workforces to do just that.”
“As Government agencies migrate their resources to a cloud environment, it is essential to have a dependable, highly secure cloud platform to navigate workflows and collaborate efficiently,” said Terry Drinkwine, vice president at Carahsoft. “With this new IL4 authorization, Carahsoft and our reseller partners can offer streamlined access to Google Workspace, enabling agencies across the DoD to accelerate the use and deployment of Google’s collaboration tools in a secure, compliant environment.”
