The General Services Administration (GSA) recently announced a restructured and streamlined approval process that will enable vendors to more quickly achieve a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Authority to Operate (ATO).

Earlier this year, Google announced that U.S. government agencies can choose Google Apps for Work to store unlimited data and content. With storage caps no longer a barrier, more agencies can take advantage of the collaboration efficiencies and cost savings of Google for Work. With predictions that government agencies can save up to 70% by switching to Google Apps, obstacles to adoption are being shattered.

The FedRAMP High baseline is already being piloted in the DoD and DHS, two agencies which demand more stringent data and cloud security than other federal agencies.

Year after year, cyber breaches of major corporations and our government are exposed to the public. During 2015, there were 541 breaches with over 140 million records hacked. Health insurance provider Anthem, Inc. took the top spot with over 78 million compromised records according to the Identity Theft Resource Center.
