Red Hat Developer Suite

Red Hat Developer Suite can be installed on any x86-compatible Red Hat Enterprise Linux system. For an introductory period it is available as a complimentary download for any subscribed Red Hat Enterprise Linux system. Red Hat Developer Suite updates are provided via the Red Hat Network subscription service that is provided with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Fully Featured IDE Based on Eclipse

Red Hat Developer Suite is a member of the Red Hat Applications product family. It provides a fully featured Integrated Development Environment (IDE) based on the open source Eclipse project for application developers. Eclipse provides an environment for developers to efficiently create a variety of applications in a rapidly growing set of languages, including support for C/C++ and Java application development.

Eclipse supports a wide range of operating systems beyond Red Hat Enterprise Linux, including Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows ME and Sun Solaris 8. This simplifies migration of developer skills and applications from these platforms to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Plug-in Capability

Eclipse also supports a plug-in capability that allows language- and environment-specific extensions. The initial release of Red Hat Developer Suite includes plug-ins for C/C++, Java, RPM and profiling. For detailed information on Eclipse refer to the project website.
