In its basic sense, the MapQuest Platform provides any organization the ability to utilize and display maps, directions, traffic, and routing information in a web-based environment. Utilizing the base technology that powers MapQuest.com, customers can use the developer tools to display and render the map and associated data within their own application. There are also web service calls available for location functions such as mapping, routing, geocoding and traffic). The MapQuest Platform includes software development tools for mapping including street map data, satellite imagery, business listings and traffic feeds. MapQuest hosts this information on redundant servers and also keeps it updated. Hundreds of companies use these tools to build custom applications to support their businesses with applications as diverse such as retail store locators, geocoding customer locations and asset tracking. The MapQuest Platform allows organizations to build robust mapping capabilities into their applications utilizing our Software Developer Kits (SDK's) in the following development languages: Java, JavaScript, C++, Flex/Flash, and .NET. These SDK's allow developers to more quickly and easily build location-base applications utilizing the API and the underlying services mentioned above.
