Paul Smith, General Manager & Vice President, Government Sales Operations, Red Hat
Paul Smith is General Manager and Vice President of Government Sales Operations at Red Hat. Smith joined Red Hat in November 2004 and leads the Red Hat Government business unit with responsibility for sales, marketing, consulting, channels and strategic planning. The business unit is responsible for the U.S. Federal government worldwide and the U.S. State, Local and Education marketplace nationally.

Smith brings to Red Hat more than 20 years of experience marketing key technologies to the government marketplace holding various management positions in the sales of software solutions to government agencies and to systems integrators.

Before joining Red Hat, Smith was Vice President of Government Operations at VERITAS. During his 5 year tenure, the business unit was the fastest growing vertical at VERITAS increasing from less than $15M to more than $200M. Smith worked at Netscape Communications where he ran sales for their State & Local organization nationwide. Prior to that he ran sales organizations at Oracle in the areas of Public Sector, Aerospace and Defense and the Department of Defense. Before joining Oracle, Smith worked for Unisys Corporation where he held management positions responsible for Federal Civilian Agencies.

Smith holds a bachelor of business administration from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland.



Trey Oats, Net-Centric Command & Control Engineering and Navigation / Chief Engineer, SPAWAR LANT
Mr. Oats is currently serving as the Chief Engineer for the C2 Engineering and Navigation Division at SSC Atlantic, Charleston, SC. Mr. Oats provides innovative engineering support and guidance within the disciplines of C2 Enterprise Services, Command Centers, Navigation and Net-Centric Solutions. Mr. Oats officially reported to SSC Atlantic as a Civil Servant in September 2005.

Prior to reporting to SSC Atlantic, Mr. Oats served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy as the Communications and Assistant Operations Officer aboard the USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62), Yokosuka, Japan from September 2003 to March 2005. He qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer six months ahead of schedule.

Mr. Oats served as the Network Services/Security Officer while stationed aboard the USS FITZGERALD in San Diego, CA. As the Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) /Information Technology (IT) lead, he was responsible for the complete overhaul and installation of the Communications Space, including an ISNS Gig-E LAN, SHF suite, EHF TIP upgrade, and HF tuning. In addition, Mr. Oats was the Primary EKMS Manager, delivering near flawless inspection to DESRON 23; and served as the Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) Boat Officer executing several boardings, as well as performing humanitarian missions in the Persian Gulf.

Mr. Oats holds a Master's of Science Degree in Systems Technology with a concentration in Joint C4I (JC4I) from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy. Mr. Oats graduated with honors from the US Naval Academy in 2002. Prior to his collegiate studies, Mr. Oats graduated as Valedictorian from Cooper High School in 1998.

Through his service to the US Navy, Mr. Oats was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Expert Rifle Medal.

Mr. Oats is DAWIA Level 3 certified in the area of Program Systems, Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering and is a member of the Acquisition Workforce Community.



Jim Mlodgenski, Chief Architect, EnterpriseDB
Jim is Chief Architect at EnterpriseDB. He is one of EnterpriseDB's first employees, having joined the company in May, 2005. Over several years, Jim has been responsible for key activities such as sales engineering, professional services, strategic technology solutions delivery, and customer education. Prior to joining EnterpriseDB, Jim was a partner and architect at Fusion Technologies, a technology services company. For nearly a decade, Jim developed early designs and concepts for Fusion's consulting projects and specialized in Oracle application development, Web development, and open source information architectures. Jim holds a BS in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.



Isaac Christoffersen, Contributor, InCommon
Isaac Christoffersen has fifteen years of experience in system integration and software solutions development for commercial and government clients. His expertise also encompasses relational database design and development, software and systems architecture and analysis, telecommunications management, and systems and software design.

Currently he is involved in the design, development, and implementation of mission-critical, grid-enabled systems using the latest SOA, JEE, Virtualization and open source standards and technologies.

Mr. Christoffersen is professional member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and a JBoss Certified Application Administrator (JBCAA). He is currently the Membership and Historical Chair for the Washington DC Chapter of the ACM (DC ACM).



Prabhakar Gopalan, Sr. Product Manager & Marketing Manager, Red Hat Inc
Prabhakar leads the product strategy for Application Management at Red Hat. Prior to joining Red Hat, he was a product manager for IBM Tivoli MQ, MB and SOA management software. Prabhakar's experience includes design and implementation of systems management solutions for IBM Global Services.



Andrew Gordon, Unisys
Andrew has 20 years SOA experience launching and leading successful large scale enterprise wide SOA initiatives for multi-national entities. Understanding that enterprise SOA is both an enterprise transformation initiative and technical challenge, Andrew's vast experience and lessons learned shortens an agency's time to realize its SOA vision ensuring the right skills, people, processes, and technology are in place at the earliest possible time to affect a smooth transition to enterprise SOA.

A Director at Unisys, Andrew is responsible for leading the Enterprise SOA and Open Source business vision for Federal Systems. Andrew is shaping the strategic Enterprise SOA solutions portfolio to help federal government, military (DoD NetCentric)) and commercial clients understand the benefits of enterprise SOA, the challenges transitioning to enterprise SOA, and most importantly, delivering on the enterprise SOA vision.

Andrew is currently leading the enterprise SOA initiative at GSA Federal Acquisition Service using Unisys' Enterprise SOA methodology which he developed based on his experience of knowing the key elements that must be in place to achieve interoperability and reuse on an enterprise-wide scale. This all encompassing methodology focuses closely on aligning an agency's SOA imitative to its strategic goals ensuring that each SOA activity contributes to achieving the agency's strategic mission.

Andrew is also providing SOA guidance to FAA, NWS, and DoD in support of the Next Generation Air Transportation System.



Mike Howard, Director of Open Systems Architecture, QinetiQ North America
Michael Howard is the Director of Open Systems Architecture for QinetiQ North America. He was formally the Command and Control (C2) Deputy Chief Engineer for SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic (SSC-LANT) where he oversaw system engineering and integration across C2 programs. He has been recognized for his efforts in Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), Master Data Management (MDM), System of Systems (SoS) Engineering, and SoS Integration. In his current position, he is responsible for transitioning C2 systems to Open Source Technologies and to a Service Oriented Environment. As one of the leading Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) authorities, he is currently leveraging an open source SOA approach as an enterprise integration enabler. Mr. Howard holds a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of South Carolina.



Ken Johnson, JBoss Senior Product Manager, Red Hat
Ken Johnson heads product line management for Red Hat's MetaMatrix Enterprise Data Services Platform. He joined Red Hat with the 2007 acquisition of MetaMatrix, where he was a senior engineering manager. Prior to MetaMatrix, he held a variety of technical leadership positions at Vignette Corporation, Oberon Software, and Sybase, with a focus on integration and data management technologies. Ken received his bachelor of science in manufacturing engineering from Boston University.



Paul Loeffler, Director of Government Programs, Jaspersoft
Paul Loeffler is Director of Government Programs at Jaspersoft. Jaspersoft is the most widely used Open Source Business Intelligence software.

Mr. Loeffler has 20 years business development, sales and technology expertise in the US and Internationally. Mr. Loeffler is a member of the Advisory Council of the Open Source Software Institute (OSSI).



Noelle Jakusz, Middleware Solution Architect, Red Hat
Noelle Jakusz has broad experience in the design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise Java applications. She also has a deep understanding of J2EE/JEE and their supporting technologies, and experience applying these technologies to solve real-world problems.



Raja Gudepu, SOA Practice Lead, Amentra Inc.
Mr. Gudepu is SOA Practice Lead for Amentra Inc, A Red Hat Company. Mr. Gudepu has extensive experience working with clients in both Government (Federal and State) and Commercial organizations where he has served as a SOA Subject Matter Expert helping deliver Enterprise SOA Solutions using Open Source Technologies.



Rich Sharples, Director of Product Management, JBoss
Rich is the Director of Product Management for JBoss Application Platforms and developer tools at Red Hat, Inc. He has spent the last decade evangelizing, using and designing Enterprise Java Middleware; he previously worked for Forte Software and Sun Microsystems and as an independent software developer and consultant.



Burr Sutter, Senior Product Manager, JBoss Middleware, Red Hat
Burr Sutter is a current Sun Java Champion, President of the Atlanta Java Users Group and founder of the Atlanta Chapter of the International Association of Software Architects. He has over 20 years of software design and development experience and has been a speaker at various developer conferences such as JavaOne, No Fluff Just Stuff, JBoss World and numerous JUGs. He is presently employed at JBoss, a division of Red Hat.



Doug Schnelzer, Chief Technologist, Vizuri
Doug Schnelzer has more than 15 years of experience leading, designing, and implementing enterprise software solutions. He is the Chief Technologist of Vizuri, the private sector business unit of Applied Engineering Management Corporation (AEM). AEM is a Red Hat Premier Business Partner and JBoss Preferred Certified Systems Integrator that specializes in the delivery of SOA Integration, Web 2.0 and Identity Management solutions for the public and private sectors.

Doug has extensive experience within the Healthcare, Government, and Financial Services industry segments that have yielded advanced Red Hat / JBoss solutions for the American Psychological Association, US Navy, Orbitz, Intuit, GE Healthcare, Daiwa Securities, NBC, and the Smithsonian Institution. Doug was also the lead architect for the project that won the 2009 JBoss Innovator of the Year Award.

Doug holds an MBA from Chapman University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University. Doug has served as a Captain in the US Air Force. Doug is Certified JBoss Architect and Administrator and has taught a variety of courses including Extreme Programming, Using OOA&D, CORBA, and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.



Keith Grange, Enterprise Services Engineer, Argon ST

Virginia Tech, Masters of Information Systems

20+ years of industry experience split between government and commercial telecom (service provider and equipment makers). Primarily focused on development, deployment and sustainment of command/control systems of high speed networking equipment. Recent project experience includes engineering architecture support of Argon ST's development and deployment of SiGINT platforms for the US Navy as well as participation in a number of C4ISR programs. Red Hat provided the core middleware stack for this system (Joss Enterprise Application Platform) 4.3 as well as RHEL 5.x.
