Agencies Continue to Struggle to Protect Mobile Devices

Today’s Innovation in Government report highlights the government’s IT modernization challenges. Bob Stevens, the Vice President of Public Sector for Lookout, says six years after the office of management and budgets digital and mobile strategy, agencies continue to struggle to protect mobile devices. Steven says look no further than the White House for a recent example of this challenge.

I think that there's a real gap in the understanding of what's required for security on a mobile device in the government. First of all, I don't think that the government, they don't have a full deployment of mobile devices for all of their employees. They believe that it's a very restricted, locked down, safe infrastructure. That couldn't be further from the truth. The evidence is in General Kelly, his personal device that was compromised. They are a target for the bad guys. It’s the soft underbelly that the bad guys know and understand.
