Speaker Bios

Steve Morton
VP, Product Management Endpoint Security and Management, Symantec
Steve Morton has more than 14 years experience in IT software product strategy and management as well as a strong background in selling to IT buyers. At Symantec, he has built world-class product marketing and management teams that have defined IT lifecycle management and service-oriented management to help fuel the rapid adoption of Symantec's endpoint management technologies. He has also implemented a pragmatic, customer-driven approach to product management.

Prior to Symantec, Steve was a senior product manager at Peregrine Systems giving him significant experience in asset and service management technologies. He also held senior positions in services and support management for Knowlix and Open Market.

Steve has spoken at numerous industry events on systems management topics including the service desk and asset management and level 0 self-help technology. Steve is also the host of Symantec's ManageFusion user conference keynote which is done in a talk-show format and is the lead singer of the Symantec house band, ManageThis! He has a bachelor of science degree from the University of Colorado.

Jonathan Jesse
Mr. Jesse is the Director of Training for ITS and is also heading up the NS7 Early Adopter Program for ITS Partners. A consultant and trainer for almost 3 years with ITS, Mr. Jesse has been focusing on Notification Server 7 for the last 5 months and is currently working on implementing CMS7 and SMS7 in two organizations as a part of the Symantec Early Adopter Program. He is also a member of the Symantec Education Curriculum Advisory Board helping to develop the NS7 training from Symantec.

Dave Swanson
Dave Swanson is a Systems Engineer with the Endpoint Management Group (formerly Altiris) of Symantec Corporation. Dave provides sales engineering support to US Army, Air Force, and Intelligence Community organizations worldwide. Dave has been with Symantec and the former Altiris organizations since 2001 with several roles inside consulting services and customer sales. Dave is an engineering graduate of University of Minnesota and New Mexico.

Ben Dixon
Ben Dixon is the Southeast Practice Principal for ITS Partners, responsible for business strategy and services delivery throughout the Southeast. Ben is an Altiris Certified Engineer, Altiris Certified Trainer and Altiris Authorized Consultant with more than ten years experience in client and asset management architecture, design and solution implementation. He has participated in numerous client management solution development and testing activities, to include Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 and Altiris Client Management Suite 7. Ben has also held numerous operations, logistics and information management positions over the past 19 years within the US Army, both on Active Duty and in the Reserve.

Mike Ainsworth
Mike served as an Altiris trainer and consultant for eight years. As a trainer, Mike taught over 200 Altiris classes to students worldwide and developed the Helpdesk Solution ITSM curriculum. As a consultant, Mike has served Federal Civilian, Military and private sector accounts in industries ranging from pharmaceutical to fashion. In 2008, Mike joined the Federal Civilian account team as a Sr. Systems Engineer with the Endpoint Management group (formerly Altiris) of Symantec Corporation. Mike lives in South Jordan, UT with his wife Angela and son Keith.

Peter McDonald
Peter McDonald serves as Federal Manager for Data Loss Prevention Solutions in Symantec's Public Sector Group where he is oversees key programs for Federal Defense and Civilian agencies to protect their data. Peter is part of Symantec's Vontu acquisition whose mission is to reduce the risk of data loss and therefore ensure public confidence, demonstrate compliance and maintain agency mission focus. Prior to Symantec, McDonald was with Vericept Corporation where he led the company's Federal data security initiatives. Mr. McDonald also led Government Sales and Business Development for BroadWare Technologies to become the largest business unit in the company and which was ultimately acquired by Cisco Systems. Prior to BroadWare Peter McDonald co-founded Federal Solutions Group and served at Hewlett-Packard and Saba Software in various capacities. Peter holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business. He is also the Vice-Chairman of the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) Information Security and Privacy Shared Interest Group.

Nick Graham
Nick Graham is a Systems Engineer with the Endpoint Management Group (formerly Altiris) of Symantec Corporation. Nick has over 9 years of experience with Altiris products. Prior to becoming an SE with the Public Sector organization in 2007, Nick worked as an Assigned Engineer assisting large Federal government customers with their Altiris installations. Nick has also worked with a large Systems Integrator (and Altiris partner) as an administrator, architect, consultant, implementer, and trainer for Altiris products. Nick and his son currently reside in Raleigh, NC.

Patrick Wheeler
Patrick Wheeler is senior manager for Endpoint Compliance solutions at Symantec, where he leverages more than eights years of product management and software development experience. In his current role, Wheeler drives the development and delivery of the company's market-leading Endpoint Security solutions. He also works closely with enterprise customers to understand and address their security challenges.

Before joining Symantec's Endpoint Security business unit, Wheeler served as a product manager at Symantec, Qualys, and Internet Security Systems (ISS), where he has worked with solutions addressing the range of enterprise security challenges, from network intrusion prevention to vulnerability assessment to enterprise-level security data management.

Wheeler speaks on Network Access control and endpoint security topics. Wheeler holds a BA from Rutgers University as well as a PhD from Emory University.

Bob Gourley
Former CTO, Defense Intelligence Agency and Founder, Crucial Point LLC
Bob Gourley is the primary blogger at ctovision.com and is the founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Crucial Point LLC, a technology research and advisory firm. He is a former CTO of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). He was named one of the top 25 most influential CTOs in the globe by Infoworld in 2007, and selected for AFCEAs award for meritorious service to the intelligence community in 2008. He holds three masters degrees including a master of science degree in scientific and technical intelligence from Naval Postgraduate School, a master of science degree in military science from USMC university, and a master of science degree in computer science from James Madison University.
